I an currently using the MSI GE60. I've had this for 4 months and I would say it was doing great. I am a heavy user (gaming, surfing then net, office work, movies, music, each. And this machine have not let me down. But last week i installed a new AVG anti-virus and I suddenly lost my built-in microphone. It's now saying microphone not installed. Can anyone please help me with this issue?

I have a brand new GE 70 and it has had nothing but problems.  Have to uninstall languages, uninstall and reinstall graphics and audio card then the thing lost connectivity to the network after hibernating/sleep.  This thing is a pile of junk and has spent more time restarting and booting up than it has running.  Back to Micro Center it goes!

This computer is amazing i am going to buy it tomorrow jajaja, its temperature levels are normal, maybe abit high is you exceed gaming, but if you are going to do so you will probably game at your house and which is most important on top os a cooling mat!!! so its heating review is way to bad, it should be 90.
THE MOST INCREDIBLE FEAUTURES OF THIS LAPTOM:
1.Its icredeble power compared with its weight AMAZING.
2.Its price!! lol
3.At the back you have a hole for an ssd DRIVE!! so in a future you can update your computer, this is one of the thing that made me buy this computer. As in several moths a computer without ssd will be rubish.

4. keyboar+sound....

lol everything is great!!!

I bought an MSI GE60 last year and I have to say it offers the best features-to-price ratio of any laptop I've ever seen. The screen for one is amazing, not as good as a Mac screen but far better than any other PC laptop (and 1080p for no extra cost!). The video card, memory, and hard drive that you get with this thing for this price is unbeatable. The plastic case ought not be a deal breaker when you're laptop-hunting, and anyway it's not even flimsy. It's lightweight and thin, and it doesn't get hot if you're not playing videogames for hours on end (if you do, get a cooling pad--they are cheap). I don't understand why it got such a bad temp rating. The one downside is the keyboard. Sometimes I hit the edge of the spacebar and it doesn't register, and I've never liked chiclet keyboards. But don't listen to this reviewer; buy the laptop if you can still find it.

i really dont understand this reviewer. i read the article looked at the stats and made my verdict. this laptop is more powerful, quieter, cooler, sleeker and more attractive than the alternatives that he mentioned in this article that he praised so highly. so what it doesn't have thunderbolt! noone needs it! if you've got a couple of usb 3 ports that's all you need as far as im concerned. the mac has got nothing on this and this is half the price. please someone tell me im wrong or offer me a better alternative for £1000 before i got out and buy one (ps the £1000 version includes the GTX 660M)

I got this computer a few days ago. The pictures do not do it justice. It looks fantastic, solid, weighs very little. The A/C weight IS NOT A CONCERN - it only weighs slightly more than your average A/C. ABSOLUTELY NOISELESS at least for office work, movies and light computational tasks. The screen is simply gorgeous, monster resolution, bargain price, superb sound (no subwoofer though, this is why the laptop is lighter)... I'm absolutely satisfied  ;D

Terrible design mess, rough surfaces, except those covered with high gloss paint.

It has two key advantages over Alienware's M14x:  a matte screen and less noise.  But design and workmanship is too fugly for me to buy it, sorry... Sager does better than this  :s

Thanks a lot for that information. That really helped with my decision. I think I will go return my K55VM today and purchase the GE60 from  Newegg! Unless anyone thinks it would be a bad idea. I would love to hear from others too haha

IMHO, the GE60 looks better than the K55VM, and if you keep it clean, the glossy back won't be much problem (I've got a glossy one myself). The review mentioned some minor flaws, but also said that in everyday use those minor flaws won't represent any concern or drawback. Maybe a Editor could help us with a comparison between the two machines.

If you want to use your laptop as a gaming machine or for video applications, the GE60 would be worth that US$ 300 difference.

You would be saving my life if you could get back to me fast. Currently I just bought a Asus K55VM (R500VM-ms71) and 10 days after purchasing it I was doing some skimming and stumbled upon this. Now i know this has 3x a better graphics card but everything else is pretty similar. The real reason i thought about returning my k55vm is because if i bought this i would be getting a laptop with full 1080p hd resolution. Do you think its worth the Graphics card upgrade & resolution for the extra 200-400 dollars? i bought my k55vm for 854 w/tax. The only thing really holding me back from this is the quality level of the case and the glossy factor. If you could provide just a little more depth or maybe comparison between the 2 laptops builds it would help me with my decision greatly.. thanks

I'm sorry but 79% is way unfair for this amazing machine. Temperature control is amazing and should be given 90, I don't know what are you talking about. The connectivity is good enough, and you may not like the case quality and glossy design but its high quality, and very cool. Awesome mouse and weight, awesome display, awful keyboard. To be honest it's funny to put -no SSD in a 1100$ notebook, it deserves a 90% and it deserves it.

If you have/want the machine and think that it's amazing, enjoy/buy it and be happy with that laptop.  If somebody thinks that it just a "good" (79%) machine, at least you know that it is good.  :)

Depending on the ambient temperature, expect about 5-10 degrees less for the case and at least 10-15 degrees less for the CPU during normal gaming.
