With a history spanning nearly two decades, Canonical's Ubuntu is now moving forward with a renewed security and support pledge that extends the life of LTS releases to no less than 12 years. The Legacy Support Ubuntu Pro add-on that provides this is available starting with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, released in April 2014.
