Quote from: Julian M on March 01, 2024, 14:29:23Let's be real here, making iOS apps compatible with the AVP so they run in a floating 2D window isn't taking advantage of "spatial computing" at all, these filler apps are good to get started but it's not what the AVP is supposed to be about.
why not? do you want your email app to do what in ar, show your emails as balls scattered around the town or something? it's a spatial computing device, a computer - it's all about hanging apps' windows around your house. it also has it's share of immersive apps aka 'furniture your house' etc.
That's not spatial computing, it's the equivalent of slapping an iPad to your eyeballs.

If you want to spend $3500 for that, go ahead, but don't expect this sort of product to be around for very long.
1000 apps is 1000 apps, don't make excuses

reality check - 1000 apps
No, no.

Let's be real here, making iOS apps compatible with the AVP so they run in a floating 2D window isn't taking advantage of "spatial computing" at all, these filler apps are good to get started but it's not what the AVP is supposed to be about.

In terms of immersive apps, aside from a couple of demos, there's really nothing out yet to make this spatial computing worth $3500.

The lack of apps feeds the lack of interest both from customers and developers and again ensures no apps are proposed, that's circular issue really preventing this thing from taking off.

What a joke, some folks are returning their AVP because there isn't much to do with it - there's a very real lack of apps for obvious reasons and a single giant monitor mode isn't all that once you realize it's not all that practical to keep the thing on for extended periods of time.

This thing, for all its technological hardware marvels, is a dud.

Quote from: techSavage on February 29, 2024, 14:40:55because if they sold 100 pieces
QuoteLast week in a post on Medium, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple has sold Apple sold between 160,000 and 180,000 Vision Pro units during its first pre-order weekend.

Quote from: lmao on February 29, 2024, 11:18:10return rate of smartphones at AT&T is 2.5%
return rate of ipad pro is 0.9%
return rate of normal ipad is 1.5%
return rate of vision pro is about 1%

so yeah
"no one will buy vision pro"
"they will return them all anyway"
> you are here

That's why I think it might be interesting to see absolute numbers in this case too, because if they sold 100 pieces of Vision and 1 was returned, it would still be 1%, but also valid to say '(almost) no one wilL buy vision pro' in comparison to millions of mobiles sold.. Tbh I think that they still sold quite many, but definitely a very different number of digits than ipads/iphones...

Sry, correction: 20-30% of 1% of all sold....

So 20-30% of 1% of all returned headsets.. I would be interested in absolute numbers, because I don't think this is something that sells in the hundreds of thousands units per month... So how many were returned for that reason actually, 3? 4? 😂
Also, if the numbers of returns for not knowing how to set this thing up would be really high, maybe it's not users to blame... ;)

Many of the most loyal Apple customers are not tech savvy to use something so easy, simple and convenient (hey, Tim Cook's words, not mine)? Who would've thought so.

After news of high returns broke earlier this month, an Apple analyst posits that up to 30% of those returns are because "users don't know how to set up Vision Pro. The next-gen Vision Pro is also predicted to arrive by 2027 and be more efficient than the current version.
