Quote from: Alex1808 on February 08, 2024, 16:54:26Hi, when will Notebookcheck do a review of the S24 Ultra?

I just saw a Youtube video review of this phone and could visibly see massive amounts of PWM. I guess I could adjust and get used to it but I'm not too sure why one has to go through that level of pain for a $1300+ device, unless into masochism.

iPhone 15 Pro Max seems to have it too but not as bad.

Strangely enough, could not seem to notice it on Pixel 8. Strange because Google Pixels used to be one of the worst offenders.

This is all through my non scientific observation though. Happy to be corrected by actual owners of these devices.

P.S.

This kinda thing seems very hit or miss between models within brands. Like there doesn't seem any one brand you can consistently trust. Asus/OnePlus for example have some with not so bad pwm and others that are terrible. On average though Chinese OEMs/vendors more often than not seem to be more mindful about it (but also don't have the best availability in global market).

** Maybe not the best idea to compare PWM on random videos as they usually are set to different brightness levels and I suppose the rate a panel modulates at is linked to how low the brightness is?

Looks like pre-release paid youtubers' claims of "better than 15 Pro Max battery life" are not a thing. Well, not surprised.

Samsung's new Galaxy S24 Ultra appears to be a battery champion. The flagship phone saw out rivals like the OnePlus 12 and Xiaomi 14 Pro in a battery drain test, but also managed to reach the highest recorded temperature of all the tested devices.
