S20/Plus/Ultra lineup was a meme because of that awful hot and battery hungry Exynos chip generation while being like 20% slower and noticeably worse in photography than Snapdragon version.

Samsung has the technology, proven with the S20 Ultra but they went backwards in every S model release since. I guess the onky way to keep adding new features is to remove them and start from the beginning again.

Sad.

I'm going to compare to the S23U here because the S24U is all unconfirmed rumors and is unreleased and not reviewed.

S20 Ultra had a 48MP 4x optical zoom lens so 100x zoom was all digital zoom and cropping. Megapixels counts matter less than the actual sensor and pixel size although it was pretty good at 4-10x but that 100x "spacezoom" was and still is a gimic. The lack of laser autofocus also hurt the overall camera package.

The difference in video quality between the S20U to S23U is crazy. The optical stabilization is so much better, especially at night. 8k24fps and 4k60fps had a lot of issues but now 8k30fps is amazing and 4k60fps works on all lenses plus no more sensor cropping from the main lens.

The resolution went from 1440x3200 to 1440x3088 but it can now run at 1440p120hz instead of being stuck rendering at 1080p120hz.

The lack of microSD was a horrible choice and I miss it very much. At least the SD8gen2 is crazy fast with zero UI lag, no overheating (SD865 was also good but the SD888 and SD8gen1 on the S21U/S22U ran hot), and battery life is the best it has ever been and is actually competitive with Apple.

Specs aren't all about what has a higher amount.  Watch a youtube video comparing s20 ultra 100x vs s23 ultra 100x.  It is way better.  Same goes with the other items you mentioned.  Just look at the benchmarks.

I refuse to buy any Samsung S phone until they make one that matches or beats the specs of the Samsung S20 Ultra.

So many new tidbits of information about Samsung's upcoming camera flagships were leaked just in the last few hours. In addition to the first hints about pre-order bonuses and very fresh images directly from Samsung, we also have a leaked feature list for you. However, a satellite SOS function similar to Apple iPhones is once again quite unlikely according to an article from South Korea.
