The phone will be usable, it just will be feature-archaic and will be comparatively slower to then-modern devices. This is true for most devices with support that lengthy. Windows supports their OS for a minimum of 10 years, and the systems essentially are the same as release in terms of speed.

The benefit of lengthy support terms is security, not necessarily speed or features.

Why not just quote the official statement from Google in your article? You're already attributing the information you received as being from Google any way.
 
If this was some type of "on background" statement from Google then you failed at that agreement by saying Google is your source. Lol
