People who haven't seen this yet keep asking me if it was any good- I tell them it was more Temple of Doom, and less Last Crusade.

Quote from: chris@amd on October 18, 2023, 12:05:00i don't understand such hate around zen3 ryzen 7030 series. these cpus offer a very balanced performance/efficiency at a little price which is OK for 95% of buyers. you can have a dell/hp convertible ultra book at 600$. what i've seen performance is superior to intel's 13th U series. graphics is about 80cu intel's and a little lower than 96cu. based on this review they can reach 10 hours with only 42wh battery. there's nothing like this at these price levels. i understand everyone is asking for 7040u zen4 cpus, but due to limited capacity, last gen is only for high end. amd's last gen had always needed time to flow downward.

AMD's previous Gen was the Zen3+ 6000 series which had limited release and refreshed as 7035 series
Now the 7030 refresh if Zen 3 5800 series is more than adequate for office use and for some students. For those home and multimedia users it's fine with a dgpu.
The problem, in my opinion, is that hp puts very low Tdp for in their probook and elite book series. Any Apus they use will not meet max potential. So if battery blife is more of a concern than anything else then the 7030 is fine.
Now the problem is, I have an issue where they sell these refreshed 2+ year old Apus in new laptop casse with high prices. It is very obsceby and I don't condone it. Only if the price is right for the 2+year old refreshed Apu will I recommend it.

ProBook, EliteBook, ZBook: Keeping track of HP's model range is increasingly difficult. With the ProBook 445 G10, we test one of the manufacturer's cheaper AMD-based office laptops with a surprisingly bright display.
