I opened the laptop to do some maintenance and realized that it has a 2nd NVME slot.

Are there any significant performance differences if you change from balanced to performance in the HP software?

Can you provide some tests?

There is no HP software to manage power profiles. Only via Windows. And currently there are 2 power profiles:
HP optimized and Balanced.

Really interesting that th be 7640 outperformed the HP 845 7940 in gaming. We this a mistake or is this 7640 config really better in gaming performance?

I've sent my laptop to HP to replace the screen bezel which wasn't attached firmly. Once I receive it, I will post my results.

HP ZBook Firefly G10 14" A - First impressions after a few days of use

Performance is amazing, even on battery. Fan noise is well managed, even on heavy loads. Both RAM slots are upgradeable up to 64 GB DDR5. Battery life is around 6-7 hours based on my usage: MS Office,  2x VMWare Linux VMs, emails, some scripting and Python programing, web browsing, and watching YouTube videos.

Port selection is really good IMHO: 2x USB 4 ports, 2x USB A, 1xHDMI, headphone/microphone jack, SIM slot.  Don't have any use for the smart card slot personally.

However, I am a bit disappointed in its build quality, i.e., it feels a bit hollow, and the black frame around the display has a small gap that gathers dust.

Based on your positive review, I bought the HP ZBook Firefly G10 14" online (Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS, 32GB RAM, 1TB NVME, 1920 x 1200 IPS Display, 60Hz., 400nits) for 1400 euros. It's arriving tomorrow. Can't wait.

Does anybody has experience with the Intel version if it has the coil whine too?

What about the toucpad? Does it feel cheap and loud on clicking or it has a muffled click quality feel?

Please help to add Cinebench2024 & Geekbench6 benchmark test, it will be good for latest CPU.
(Cinebench2024 need 10mins test lead-time, it could know laptop thermal capacity design)

I wonder for how much  more time Office PC laptops will last.

I am seeing good tablet products that could well replace them while office laptops being released are comparatively poor or expensive.

Quote from: PHVM_BR on October 14, 2023, 15:11:02does this only have a 16gb sodimm module?

Even on ddr5 there will be an increase in graphics performance with 2 modules...

I'm wondering as well if the test that are memory reliant were done in single or dual channel mode.
The 7640HS seems interesting as I never considered this Apu.

While some notebooks from HP feel more like plastic bombers, the ZBook Firefly looks pretty high-end. We tested the current 14-inch AMD-based G10 A variant and reveal its strengths and weaknesses.
