Hi,
Would you be so kind and update the calibration screenshot as it does not show all the RGB values, it only shows Red and Green? :D

Thanks in advance and thank you for a great article.

PS: I have the Xperia 5 V and IT IS AMAZING.

Quote from: Manny on November 10, 2023, 02:36:59Man.. I really wanna buy this Sony. So few companies at the moment building compact high performance smartphones with solid camera's, microSD/headphone jack, IP68 AND good speakers/battery life.

But Sony's smartphone pricing is just, Ugh..

They still think it's 2004 and they are one of the leaders in the mobile phone industry.

News flash: They aren't even close to the leader, iPhone is.

If they wanna charge Apple level pricing, they better give us 7 years worth of OS updates as well.

Otherwise, if they wanna stick to 2-3 years max software support policy, then their phones shouldn't be costing more than $400, because you can get an iPhone for double the price and will easily give you more than double the updates longevity-wise.

Until they figure/sort this out, I'll never buy Sony.

It's sad, they've been in the game for over a decade and still can't figure out why nobody buys their phones and get Pixels, Galaxy's or Xiaomi's instead.
While I agree with that they charging too much of a premium for what it is, I think that $400 is pushing it a tad when you look at the cost of any other SD 8 G2 ;)

I am going to set iPhone aside because the OS is just different and if you prefer one or the other, you aren't going to switch over. And there is also a cost associated to the switch if you've already invested quite a bit in either ecosystem.

As far as Android devices go, I started up with Samsung all the way back from the Galaxy S3. Hardware wise, I still like them, but as someone who like to tinker with my phone, Samsung has become rather unfriendly, making it hard/at time impossible to unlock the bootloader, the whole Knox trip thing and more (people have reported issues with camera after bootloader was unlocked even though there is no reason for that).

I then tried a Xiaomi phone. Great spec for the price, active mod community (for now - apparently they will make it harder to unlock the bootloader when their next gen UI comes out).. but the biggest issue I have is that most of their phones have a mere IP53. The ones that have IP68 do not have an microSD slot. I don't swim with my phone, but I do work in wet environment so I need device with better IP ratings (despite never been submerged or anything, my Xiaomi phone has shown water getting into the phone).

That why I am now looking at Sony phones. MicroSD card, IP68, and fuss free unlockable bootloader means that the modding community could keep updates coming (this option won't suit everyone but it suits me well). The only problem is that as you said, they are a bit too premium price wise. I don't need them to be as cheap as Xiaomi especially if the QA is on par, but I would like to see them priced more competitive against Samsung.

Another thing is that I'd like to see something between the 10 series and the 5 series. The performance gap between the 10 and 5 is huge.

Anyone who follows ICE UNIVERSE on Twitter (aka X) will know how much his sickly obsession with thin bezels is. I much prefer to have something like the Xperia where I don't see any holes or pills interrupting my full-screen viewing experience. Sony really got the right idea all along.

Sony's Xperia 5 V is a strong camera phone for small hands: featuring a 48 MP dual camera, the slim 21:9 smartphone manages to replace three lenses. The 6.1-inch small Android 13 phone is also equipped with the lightning-fast Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a 5000 mAh battery.
