If you think 4K is good, I'm not sure why you think this monitor is a gimmick. If you actually put any amount of critical thinking into the resolution of this screen, you'll quickly understand that it's clearly just the equivalent of two regular 4K displays side-by-side. Just as the previous generation was the equivalent of two 1440p displays side-by-side. There is nothing gimmicky about this monitor. The only gimmick is the "8K" marketing, but I'm willing to cut them some slack because our current 1080p/1440p(2k)/2160p(4K) naming scheme kind of falls apart when we start talking about ultrawide and superwide displays.

I have the current G9 Neo.  It's been the single biggest improvement to my gaming setup.  Crazy immersive.  When I upgrade my rig again, I'll consider selling the G9 Neo and getting this.  People who say 4k gaming is unnecessary are playing on TVs from across the room.  Up close on a PC monitor, 4k (this is 2160 vert, vs 1440 on the G9 & G9 Neo) will make a difference.  The slightly physically taller display will be an improvement too, I expect.

It appears that Samsung is finally ready to sell the Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC, a 57-inch gaming monitor that debuted in January during CES 2023. The Odyssey Neo G9 G95NC combines an 8K resolution with a 240 Hz refresh rate, plus Mini LED backlights that deliver up to 1,000 nits peak brightness.
