I have bought LG 17Z90R-G.AD7CG gram for week ago. When i unboxing it and starting checked the laptop, first of all i listened that the cooler was on high level, but i watched only Youtube video for checking audio, brightness and etc. And second one is the battery life. Before buying laptop i have also checked the batteries life and the stabile was for 12 hours or less, but for me its not true. Can anyone answer me or help to solve this problems?

Yes, if you position it as a business laptop, this is a clear disadvantage, because. no adequate company administrator will allow the use of Wi-Fi in the office as a knowingly insecure connection subject to hacking from an uncontrolled environment. In offices (where owners think about security), the connection is only by cable.

But LG Gram is clearly not a business laptop - it does not meet many criteria in this regard. This is a home series or a series for those who often travel, but safety and durability (reliability) are not in the first place - the main thing is low weight with a large screen and an almost full keyboard with a numpad.

Price is an absolute bargain considering no other company makes a 17" Ultrabook that weighs under 1.4 kg with a 80Wh battery. And LG laptops are always discounted, at least here in the US.

We have seen in some recent AMD Zen4 cpu laptops that the idle energy consumption is not good and they do not seem well refined so i am not sure that would be the best choice for 2023.

And in general, it would be better to use DisplayPort in laptops more often than the terrible and dangerous HDMI, which, by the way, will reduce the price by a few cents, which is so beloved by marketers and managers.

One of the disadvantages is the keyboard, there is plenty of space for the usual buttons (arrows and F-keys), and a larger touchpad, like the Legion, is quite enough.

Quote from: Oleksa on May 10, 2023, 14:36:59A good laptop, but for $800, not €1900.
Intel has been lagging behind in terms of lightweight and energy-efficient laptops for 5 years in a row (and maybe more).
What I would like for this money (€1900)
- Or at least a 64GB lpddr5 6400 board soldered on the board.
Or 2 ddr5 5400 expansion slots (there is enough space here, it will add only a few grams of weight).
- AMD Fenix + 2 USB 40Gbe.
- Variability of batteries 45/90/120 watts (I think there are problems with the latter when traveling by plane, but not everyone does). There is also a lot of space, so someone can reduce the weight or increase the battery life.

In general, + for 2 m2 of slots in such a case (and for the price, I liked the design).
It is worth increasing the size of the radiator, it is better to have a quiet laptop than to lose only 50 grams of weight.
In general, while maintaining the weight, you can easily add 2 ddr5 expansion slots and add amd fenix, the laptop will become faster, quieter and more autonomous.
And you can vary the price from 1000 to 1600.
It is 6 core phoenix and 45watt battery, 16gb ddr5 (1000-1200)
up to 8 core phoenix, 120w battery, 64gb lp/ddr5. (1500-1600)
+1 Totally agree, this is what is being said in other forums.
It is a phoenix with 6 cores and a 45watt battery, 16gb ddr5 (1000-1200)
up to 8 core phoenix, 120w battery, 64gb lp/ddr5. (1500-1600)
Everyone knows that 2.2lb ultrabook does not work well with intel unlike AMD 4nm vs 10nm and power consumption is higher in intel vs AMD.
Possibly we will see LG laptops with AMD since everyone is betting on AMD Fenix where its great advantage is RDNA 3 which is 5 times more powerful than Xe

I like LG more and more in their attempts to make a good laptop for quiet сomfort work.

The screen is almost wonderful - according to the review, the response time is good, despite the "60Hz". Excellent contrast, sufficient brightness (but not for the street).

But the author did not pay any attention to the accuracy of the screen "out of the box" with the sRGB profile - if it is available in the software and to what extent it corresponds to sRGB. Because this matrix has a wide gamut (I have exactly the same monitor in front of my eyes with 94% Adobe RGB) and this is a problem if the manufacturer has not achieved an exact match of sRGB (Rec.709/SDR) in the factory profile, because most of the software and videos are made right under it.

And of course, on 17"+ I still wanted 4k@120Hz (with the same or better response time <10ms G2G/B2W).

In all other respects, except for poorly tuned RAM in the BIOS (too much variation in reading/writing/copying - they should be close in numbers)....the disadvantages of the laptop are entirely due to its low weight.

The increased noise of the cooling system, despite the poor performance, results from the low weight of the radiators in order to combat the increased weight.

The only way to solve this problem today - lower noise and higher speed - is to use Zen4 Phoenix, and not super hot Intel on an outdated technical process. Of course, 2 USB40 ports(Phoenix first AMD series with built-in 2xUSB40 ports) should be in place, as well as 2xTB4 with Intel.

LG also makes a common mistake - making power only via usb-c, which idiotically sticks out to the left side, making it extremely uncomfortable for right-handed people to use the laptop on sofas and beds from psu - right-handed people's legs are just on the left and they will easily break this flimsy power port. Why, again, is it impossible to make the main power supply through the usual round, angular and extremely durable plug on the side, or why, having so much space in the back, not to make power supply via usb-c in the back, so that it is convenient for both right-handed and left-handed people?

Again, the audio jack is conveniently located for right-handed people, but it is so inconvenient for left-handed people - it's better when there are 2 identical audio jacks - left and right. An additional bonus - you can quickly create a quad-sound around a set of 4 speakers in road.

If LG heeds this advice, they will gently and unhurriedly break into the lead.

Well, it's nice to put in a box with a laptop, as Gigabyte does in the Aero series - a small docking station with additional connectors, including 2.5Gb/s Ethernet.

Well, even taking into account the struggle with weight, it is still worth putting 2 memory slots in such a large case so that the owner can easily upgrade to 64GB, if necessary. And with the Zen4 Phoenix, that's probably the minimum requirement - 64GB of memory. Because built-in video immediately takes 8GB from the system, so even with 32GB there is only 22GB (2GB takes W10/11) free, which is not so much in 2023.

And of course, a wish to LG to provide drivers for your laptops to W10 until at least 2028. W11 is too disgusting to be a non-alternative solution today.

And of course, the key jamb of this model - again a stupid power button as part of the keyboard.

LG it looks like a laptop for the poor, not for people willing to pay almost $2000. Fire this designer and make a separate power button, it costs a penny.

And of course, do not forget to make manual control of coolers within some allowable limits from under Windows or in the BIOS.

Once again LG was wrong, it must have bet on AMD ZEN 4 7040 Phoenix = DDR5 + RDNA 3 + USB 4.0 + HDMI 2.1 + artificial intelligence with XDNA architecture developed by Xilinx and all at 4nm vs 10nm from Intel.
LG has very thin and light ultrabooks impossible to get the most out of 40nm intel that consumes more power and gets very hot.
Let's hope they upgrade to AMD ZEN 4 7040 Phoenix and get the most out of RDNA 3 + FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0. where you can render 3D, videos something impossible with the intel Xe.

In my country LG lost a lot of sales by their bizarre 2022 model choice - almost 1000 euros between a 1240p+256Gb SSD!?  and a 1260p+1Tb SSD. Nothing in between. Let's see what they do with 2023...

Full sized keyboard with numad... AND with centered touchpad! That alone makes it awesome. See other OEM, that's the way to do it instead of pushing it to the far left (🤢) like you always do.
