Quote from: Codrut Nistor on May 08, 2023, 04:52:46The problem is inflation overall, leaving aside how a company or another pushed prices up in the last few years - justified or not.

I find your statement sideways and verbatim.

Here's a TRUE vision, though. For EVERY company that screams "its due to inflation"... uhm... why were they in the headlines in 2019-21 praising they wanted to raise prices because they believed then that "most consumers expect price increases" by now (then), huh?! Heck, Sony, Take 2, etc. is on record praising the PS unit price increase and the beginning of $70+ title's increases.

Your statement is NOT factual unless **you** could retrieve a UNREDACTED BoM document from said company that PROVES where every cent is spent, distributed and collected. Everything else is just - "take our word for it" with their manipulated PowerPoint show.

Sorry, but I'm not so credulous to white-collars' nonsense without having, in public view, the FACTUAL data.

What a scam!  I have never purchased this product for more than $99 including shipping and tax.  I last purchased a pair of these in early 2020 from Amazon.  Technology prices should fall (deflate) due to continuing improvements.  Unfortunately, it seems that nobody is innovating in the 2.5" form factor for HDDs which is causing prices to no longer drop.  This is unfortunate because I am running on fumes with regards to backup space left, yet I refuse to EVER purchase a hard drive for more than I have in the past, especially 2+ years in the past.  I have had a price watch on this drive for several months now and the only time it hit my price was in the middle of the night and it had already gone back up by the time I woke up.  (There really should be a "go ahead and buy when it hits this price" option!) In any case, capacities in this form factor seem stuck at 5TB while the 3.5" form factor is up to at least 22TB and a better cost per TB. But the larger 3.5" drives are rather loud and not suitable for the location my computer is at.

I'm beginning to wonder and question myself to what actually is considered a so-called "deal" by the industry/influencers today, 4REAL!

I recall purchasing an old WD Ultra - ~Black Friday, you know, when BF deals were ACTUALLY GREAT DEALS and not these everyday BF BS deals - Like for ~$110. MANY years ago. So, unless these clowns has jacked back up the price over the years (just tragic) for these very dated relic mediums, someone  at WD needs a reality check or timeout.

Available on Amazon since late August 2019, the WD My Passport (WDBPKJ0050BBK-WESN) is a 5 TB USB 3.0 portable hard drive that comes with 256-bit hardware encryption and a backup software solution (download needed). The ongoing 28% discount takes this piece of hardware from US$149.99 to US$107.99.
