It seems they actually do prioritize their biggest markets, which seems to be China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan & South East Asia, followed by Europe.

North America is just for flagships, and perhaps not that many units are sold yearly over here. It has been several years without a midrange offering (since Xperia 10).

Sony's weird scheduling definitely puts the Xperia over the edge in terms of availability. If they really intend to push smartphone in the market, they should be more proactive in promoting and distributing their smartphones.
