So standard iPhones might abandon holes in 2029. If LTPO is flicker-free with a ratio of at most 16:9 and not too big, display-wise this might be the first year I can consider buying an iPhone. Of course, it is very unlikely that Apple will overcome its other objections already then and not have introduced more.

Apple could be looking at an under-display Face ID implementation starting with the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025 while the iPhone 19 Pro will mark the arrival of a true all-screen iPhone. Apple is also speculated to extend under-display Face ID to standard iPhone 19s in 2027 while retaining a selfie camera punch hole. Meanwhile, the entirety of the iPhone 17 generation will transition to 120 Hz ProMotion displays.
