The 3060 ti is $400.
The 4070 ti is $800.

The 4070 ti gets way past 2x the performance of the 3060 ti with DLSS 3 on. Making the price to performance better for the 4070 ti right now then the 3060 ti in that case.

For a game native 3060 ti is 50 fps. Native 4070 ti is 80. But DLSS 3 4070 ti is above 120 fps.

DLSS 3 is only available in harder to run titles but those are the ones you'll want that performance boost for. 4070 ti can run things like Elden Ring perfectly fine but it'll also run things like Forza 5 maxed out with RTX and DLSS 3 on.

Have you heard progress? It means that for one level of performance you get an notable increase in performance gen over gen qithout a price increase or a small one at best.

3070ti was overpriced the relevant comparison is with a simple 3070 wich was close in performance for a whole 100$ less. So the price hick is even worse. And don't forget nvidia wanted to lie and call it a 4080 and sell it for 900.

Sad the authors doesn't see that the 4070 Ti doe not represent progress. 60% more performance at 60% more cost is stagnation. That is actually a sad indictment of Nvidia. Even worse 4070 Ti uses AD104 wheres as this class used to be xx103. So you pay 60% more for lower bus width and a smaller and cheaper die. Progress would have been a 25-40% performance/value improvement. Either the card needs to be $599 or the performance needed to improve 100% at least.

At least the AMD 7900XTX did greatly improve the performance compared to the the 6950XT at the same price. Alas the 7900XT which in reality a 7800XT does not offer this improvement as it costs $200 more than the 6800XT.

Roasted 4070ti? So, the GPU did not smoke and die?

The vram bus bandwidth is enough for 1440p. The real issue is when you go 4k. Lots of people are saying it's better than a 3090 but that's completely wrong.

Quote from: Spunjji on March 26, 2023, 11:12:48Hey guys, can we not perpetuate the idea that Nvidia not charging us for every single extra frame the new hardware generates is somehow generous? The comparison is stacked too, the 3070 Ti is barely faster than the 3070 but they jacked the price up during the pandemic. Chuck the 3070 in there and the 4070 Ti is exposed for the joke that it is.
True...!
QuotePut it this way, the revamped and renamed GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB could have cost from US$950 to US$1,000 if based on these average FPS increases.
This is twisted! You never "Put it this way"! One should expect an average 20% annual performance increase at the same price!

"these results might show that RTX 4070 Ti owners can confirm their belief that they have made a smart purchase"

These results are irrelevant for a purchase of mine because I would not do any 3D gaming. Factors for my purchase consideration include:

- drastic price / performance increase
- lacking good alternative purchase options and information
- performance in compute / work softwares
- improved efficiency
- only temporarily given availability at or below MSRPs of my preferred models
- prices and availability of the other components of a new computer
- retailers' sales terms and behaviours

Performance improvement in silicon is expected, massive price increases are not.

A gaming comparison video has been posted showing four different generations of Nvidia GeForce xx70-class graphics cards in action. The new RTX 4070 Ti unsurprisingly leads the pack, but it is surprising to see how well it overcomes the RTX 3070 Ti. Nvidia has faced considerable flack for the pricing of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, but it might actually be good value for money.
