One finds in every corner that the CPU has security gaps for malware, its AI makes smart phone calls and thus competes with China.

The bet seems interesting but what everyone is waiting for are the AMD ZEN 4 7040 Phoenix laptops = DDR5 + RDNA 3 + USB 4.0 + PCI 4.0 HDMI 2.1 + Artificial Intelligence with XDNA architecture developed by Xilinx to make the most of ChatGPT and all at 4nm vs. Intel's 10nm

The AMD 7040 Phoenix CPUs will surpass the Apple M2 in performance and efficiency, even in artificial intelligence, that is what the portable public expects with ZEN 4 Phoenix. If you want to know more, simply write in your search engine AMD ZEN 4 7040 Phoenix

This is NOT a laptop CPU! 157 Watt!!!

It will thermal throttle after few seconds unless you have a Truck intercooler.

And you need a Aircraft carrier size battery to last you the day!

What a joke!

Intel NOT use "Intel 7" for Raptor. The first series with "Intel 7" - Meteor Lake.

Apple is the absolute technological leader on the planet today. Especially in terms of the speed of the 512 bit memory controller (Intel/AMD use only 128 bit bus), if this speed is really proven in tests with a 4-5 times superiority on Intel in practice. AMD on the memory controller is still average 1.5 times slower than Intel memory controllers, even with memory at a higher frequency.

All Apple needs to destroy Intel and AMD is access to the x86 patents. After that, Intel went bankrupt.

that's a good joke. Apple hasn't been leading anything since M1 dropped. They only held the top spot for a millisecond before being dethroned by Intel and AMD. AMD goes toe to toe with Apple when it comes to PPW (Apple lost their advantage when 6000 series APUs dropped) and Intel beats out Apple in nearly every benchmark (Raptor Alder Lake proved this and Raptor Lake continues to dominate). Nvidia and AMD have always smoked Apple in the GPU department too. When you consider PRICE to performance ratio, a much more relevant benchmark, Apple loses with their overpriced, locked down garbage. They make pretty laptops but that's about it lol.

In fact, the fate of Intel now resembles the fate of IBM in the market.

Apple/ARM are overrated. It's also important to note that the Apple chip has a ~1 node advantage (TSMC N5P vs. Intel 7).

Also: can be used as a space heater for room, give you blisters sitting it on your lap, and you have to use it with isolation headphones to mitigate the fan noise just opening Chrome... and a whopping 2 hours of battery life... if you are lucky.

>> "Turbo Power of 157 W gives it a muscular advantage."
CPU power of 150W is a handicap, not an advantage. This thing can never go in a portable laptop. Even monster gaming laptops with it will slow down three times on battery, and will be noisy as a jet on mains.

Lead in some aspects does not equal leader in all aspects.

It is already obvious to everyone that Apple is the new technology leader. And if they had key patents for x86 (which it is high time to take away from Intel and AMD in court as a monopoly of ownership), she had long ago crushed Intel in her own market.

Not only that, the M2 Max is 4-5 times faster in terms of RAM than the top i9 for laptops. This is worth a lot if it is confirmed in practice, but unfortunately, in the NB reviews, this is not reflected in any way by real tests of the memory subsystem...

And what clock rates for the Intel "Mobile" processor to get that single thread performance above the M2's single threaded performance and pleas note that when one unplugs a M2 based Macbook from the mains that on battery power the clocks remain the same as the M2 is run at close to its performance/watt sweet spot regardless whereas the x86 competition will have to get down-clocked on battery power or suffer battery depletion much sooner than the M2 based Laptops.

Maybe choose a fixed clock rate that's the same fo all processors tested and with boost behavior disabled for all processors tested as well and do the IPC Benchmarks along side the tests with the unrestrained clocks/boost clocks there but Apple's M2 Processors are designed to perform the same plugged in or unplugged as Apple is focusing on maximum battery life while not affecting any Productivity workload performance while on battery power.

So the M1/M2 series of SOCs are not targeting any performance at the cost of power efficiency there on Apple's Macbooks. Let's test the Laptops with that in mind there and on Battery Power and even on mains power to see who is using the most wattage there to get the workload done. Apple's SOCs are higher IPC at lower clocks while the x86 makers are lower IPC at higher clocks to make up for the IPC shortfall of the x86 designs on single threaded performance.

Amazing that a CPU with a fraction of the capabilities of the M2 and significantly lower efficiency can be lauded for scoring slightly higher in performance. Congratulations?

The Raptor Lake Intel Core i9-13980HX and i9-13900HX processors have knocked the crowd of Apple M2 chips off their PassMark perch in terms of single-thread CPU performance. The Dragon Range AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX has yet to make an appearance on this benchmark, but the i9-13980HX's Turbo Power of 157 W gives it a muscular advantage.
