This is amazing news. I've been type 1 for over 8 years now and have dreamt of the days of non-invasive BG monitoring. It took me 4 years to eventually decide to go the CGM (and pump) route and I've never looked back ever since. I love to keep up with all the latest Diabetes tech news, and I am eager, myself, to help test some of them if it will help improve the products and speed up the lengthy process of approval.

I know for me, right now, the upcoming Dexcom G7 CGM is going to be a game changer. I can't wait to switch to it hopefully around Q3 of this year when my pump company releases/gets approval for the G7 to work with it. I see the future of this tech being in the non-invasive type. Think Apple watch. We already know that Apple and its competitors are working on non-invasive spot based BG checking for their devices. It's only a matter of time until that becomes the norm.

The key, however, will be for it to eventually develop into a CGM-like device with constant automatic readings and integration with devices like pumps. In addition, it would need to be as reliable or even more reliable than a current-day CGM because the non-invasive nature of the device would make it a lot more enticing to the average Diabetic that may not like the idea of having an inserted device on them at all times. The reliability (MARD) factor would also be important since there would be a much larger pool of users of the device. Not only could the MARD improve dramatically, but there would be so much data for the CGM companies to gain from enormous user pools of the devices constantly feeding back BG data that the companies could use to improve their formulas even further.

I'm excited if you didn't get the gist. I just hope they don't get priced out of most of our reach like tends to happen so often in the medical space. I know the Pharma companies would hate to lose their test strip revenue, and they would likely lobby like crazy to possibly try to force the products to be out of reach to most patients due to high cost. Who knows...                                                                                                                   

This will be an awesome addition to the current fgm/cgms available in South Africa but hopefully it would be more affordable for our lower income groups who cannot afford Glucometer test straps per month.

This sounds AMAZING! However, most CGM users that I've spoke with prefer utilizing their phones instead of hauling yet another electronic with them wherever they go. I'm very excited to see where your technology can take us!

The Freestyle Libre is still an invasive sensor that is stuck to the skin and uses a filament inserted by a needle (that's in the insertion device) to measure glucose levels.
This tech is completely non invasive and does not require any adhesive or needle, which is potentially great news for the many many type 1 diabetics with adhesive or metal allergies.

I know this is a bit outside normal coverage for the site, but I appreciate it all the same as my spouse suffers from type 1 diabetes and tech makes a very real difference in her life.
