I understand it perfectly. Koss and JVC, and possibly others, made headphones with earloops that sit on your ears years ago. The only difference is they used full-sized headphone drivers whereas these are more like earbuds that just hang out in the same position. So yes, they're slightly different, but the overall design is essentially the same, and the only difference is the size of the drivers. IMO, that makes these far from original and "new." Same with Sony's own MDR-AS200 Sport Headphones, which were in-ear in the sense they protruded into the auricle, even slightly into the concha, but the didn't actually go into the canal, so they were sort of in-between a typical earbud and these, but certainly I'd say taking an earbud design that sits outside the canal and moving it slightly farther out still doesn't make it some new, great thing (not to mention they simultaneously moved it farther away and reduced its hold on the ear, so I can see this redesign--i.e. not all-new design--not staying in place very well).
But if you don't agree, and think those minor changes are enough to make them new and unique enough to make a big deal about them, then what about JVC Nearphones, which came out half a year ago?

So yeah, I understand what these are, and I stand by my original comment, because these are absolutely NOT anything new and special. And by the way, I own a pair of the earloop larger driver style and a pair of the Sony Sport style, and neither cost anywhere close to $100 (pretty sure they were closer to a third of that), and the JVC Nearphones are ~60, so I also stand by my statement that these cost far too much for what they are. I realize these are wireless, but even that shouldn't make them cost this much. But unlike my other statement, that's not something that is fact; it's just opinion, and in reality things are worth what people are willing to pay for them, so if you think they're worth $1,000, then they are, to you.

This is hardly new. This is very similar to various styles of headphones that were fairly common before the AirPod style earbuds became so popular. So we spend several years with those as the new fad and, once everyone has apparently forgotten other headphone types existed, they release this "new" design that's just a decade-plus-old design and sell it for over $100 when similar headphones cost a quarter that price 10-15 years ago. Gotta love the marketing of these companies.
