Should we be impressed when it launches at $100 more than the 3080 did. It's not a 4070 if it's priced like a 80 series card. 40% more performance is not progress if it costs 40% more, that's called stagnation.

Looks like this gen is to be skipped. Provided crypto doesn't reappear with high demand for proof of work currencies geforce 5000 series should once again offer great performance at reasonable prices. These things simply take time I'm afraid

Quote from: RobertJasiek on January 01, 2023, 16:47:08The 4080 has nice hardware (except for the power adapter), which I have not bought due to the excessive prices. The 4070TI has nice hardware (except for the power adapter), which very probably I do not buy due to the excessive prices. Lower models will have nice hardware, albeit mostly too slow for me, and I will not buy any due to the presumably excessive prices. The 4090 I do not buy due to missing availability at MSRPs, the power adapter, too high TDP and its consequences. Nvidia's brillancy (speak: greed) has prevented my purchase of RTX 2000, then RTX 3000, now RTX 4000 and might prevent my purchase of any future Nvidia desktop GPU. Greed works during mining booms but otherwise kills markets.

That's the name of the game for a while now. Trying to milk consumers for every last dime. They purposely release few cards and or at high MSRP and then the scalpers have a field day for months on end. All while raising your electric bill with their high tdps. I thought the future of tech was efficiency, 'green' power sustainability? As with laptop batteries, it seems they have come to a halt concerning these 'improvements'

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti aka GeForce RTX 4080 12 GB has been benchmarked on 3DMark, where it performs on par with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, but lags behind the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and 7900 XT. Nvidia is said to launch the graphics card at CES 2023.
