Those 3 chips are definitely the current high end only found in flagship phones with a high price to match.

1) media tek dimensity 9200
2) Qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 2
3) apple a16 bionic

Now to the comparisons. While those first 2 may have very performance numbers and even exceed number 3 in some performance tests, in the real world and overall performance the number 3 has the upper hand with it's superior hardware-software efficiency and optimization since apple makes all their hardware and software and is a closed ecosystem with everything in their iphones all made in-house. Plus iphones with their iOS os is more secure and stable than the Android os used in numbers 1 and 2. And if than weren't enough, iphones get software updates for 7 years vs Android phone updates for 4 years at most, many of which are only 2 or 3 years. And finally iphones get more frequent software updates vs Android phones. So once again iphones are the undisputed king of cellphones.

Dimensity 9200 is apparently the best performers when it comes to graphics. The GPU is insanely powerful!

Lay out a list with SoC "middle" level, otherwise you are a liar.

Quote from: 7SX on December 17, 2022, 22:29:49Not to mention that, in fact, cameras are one of the least relevant components of a phone to the vast majority of normal people who aren't obsessed with taking a picture/video of everything they stumble upon.
You're lying. The statistics clearly show that all reasonable people are trying to buy a smartphone with 4k@60Hz. Another thing is that they are deliberately limited in such garbage, by price and top models, although this should be even in models for $ 250 for a long time already. My 2015 smartphone already supported 4k@30Hz.

Quote from: 7SX on December 17, 2022, 22:29:49H266? Who the hell even needs that? H264 is still the industry standard, H265 is barely breaking through to the mainstream, and it's still an upcoming norm. Pushing for H266 is pointless, and holds no value to anyone at all, since the hardware (SoC itself) will be obsolete by the time H266 acquires enough relevancy within the industry.
Industry standard H265/VP9, people already forget about H264 even on pirated trackers. Good morning Martian. If it doesn't reach the stupid - if H266 is not implemented faster in hardware, then it will not spread to the content. 2+2=4...

Quote from: 7SX on December 17, 2022, 22:29:49If you mean encoding, then I legitimately feel sorry for you, for being so lost and confused to the point of thinking AV1 encoding is relevant on a phone.
Read above.

Quote from: 7SX on December 17, 2022, 22:29:49HDMI 2.0 and DP 1.4? What does that even have to do with the Dimensity 9200? Even ignoring how irrelevant your point is, do you want phones to become 30mm thick just to house those ports? I was going to ask if you didn't know about USB-C to HDMI cables, and USB hubs that you can plug to your phone and monitor but the answer is blatant. You don't. You barely know anything.
For the infinitely stupid - all smartphones come with usb-c. It natively supports DP/HDMI Alt Mode. But redneck manufacturers do not deliberately bring it out (it costs a penny in the cost of usb-c tying) in order to intentionally show the difference for the better in top models. And that's not all...

What you wrote is the nonsense of an illiterate idle layman. We will finish with this.

Quote from: NikoB on December 17, 2022, 13:08:15Normal users, except for teenagers and Young Adults, do not care about performance in gpu and games - they are more interested in minimal consumption with an ideal response speed in the system and useful software for life. As well as support for 4k / 8k @ 60fps when recording video and the presence of OIS.

Today the SoC is essentially only important in terms of the photo/video part and support for modern codecs. Does the 9200 H266 support it? No. Does it support on-the-fly compression in AV1? Again no?

Also, in a modern smartphone, it is important to have an HDMI2.0 / DP1.4 output to monitors in order to use the smartphone as a silent system unit for surfing on a large screen, which top-end SoC 2022+ allows.

As well as reliable instant hardware shutdown of microphones and cameras. Plus, the mandatory recording of conversations from the line (moreover, with complex rules of who to write and who not). This is a necessary requirement for a normal working smartphone.

Children should be denied access to smartphones until the age of 14. They only hurt them. Incredibly damaging...

And games ... this is an empty occupation and nonsense ...
You sound like an incredibly out of touch old head that wants to be relevant so bad.

4K@60 is literally doable by premium midrange chipsets at this point in time, let alone flagships. 8K is equally as stupid and if you're desperate for such resolution, you realistically shouldn't be expecting it from a tiny, less than 1" sensor on a smartphone. Not to mention that, in fact, cameras are one of the least relevant components of a phone to the vast majority of normal people who aren't obsessed with taking a picture/video of everything they stumble upon.

"On-the-fly compression of AV1"? What does that even mean? You're so out of touch that you don't even know the proper terminology to describe your own thoughts. If you mean AV1 decoding, then YES the Dimensity 9200 DOES support it. If you mean encoding, then I legitimately feel sorry for you, for being so lost and confused to the point of thinking AV1 encoding is relevant on a phone.

I will not even bother with the rest of your comment. It's borderline stupid and completely irrelevant to this conversation regarding the Dimensity 9200, like how mad you are that kids have easier access to useful technology while your old head is getting confused on the internet. Or how mad you are that people of ALL AGES, play games on their phones and have a great time, while you're being miserable on the internet. All I have to say about that is : Yikes.

Why is gaming nonsense? They represent the performance and efficiency of a phone chip under high load, which is relevant to everyone's use. Do you know about other markets and different users? How many people care about 4K@60FPS and 8K video recording? The most important thing about a flagship phone chip is the balance between performance and efficiency (watch out SD888 and SD8G1), all this messy codec support is secondary. In terms of efficiency the D9200 is an improvement.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9200 sports an Immortalis-G715 as its GPU. Before it debuted last month, reports claimed the flagship SoC could outperform the iPhone 14 Pro's A16 Bionic GPU-wise. Those reports weren't baseless, it now appears.
