AMD said not some Jon Doe so it's an official statement that the flagship 7900 xtx it's comparable with rtx 4080. It's very important they did not tried some misleading info to sell. Aknowledged only people with too much money would pay for rtx 4090 skip frame dlss aka fake frames and sane people wait for discount of rtx 4080 or just buy a cheaper superior product without fake frames, the AMD.

Rtx 4090 plays in other league, league of stupidity and a kindey AMD Simply refuse to join just yet.

Quote from: Sav on December 14, 2022, 11:41:01No idea why this article compares a $999 USD card to a $1600 USD card. AMD has said they are not competing against the 4090 with the 7900XTX. It's meant to compete with the 4080 and it trades blows with the 4080 quite well - especially considering price points of the two cards. RTX is still kind of gimmicky unless you are on the 4090. Try RTX with any other card and the FPS hit is not worth it. There aren't even that many games that support RTX, nevermind the ones that do it well. Personally I want great 4k quality as I play on a big screen TV, so the 7900 XTX just seems to make the most sense($). I'm not justifying a $1000USD pricetag though.

It's always the same cope with AMD fanboys: When there's something good that AMD cant figure out how to use it, it's not good or necessary (AVX512, RTX). But when AMD suddenly jumps in with a proper implementation, now it becomes an industry revolution.

Also, if the 7900XT is their top of the line card, how is it not supposed to compete with the 4090? Price looks different but thats more due to Nvidia being greedy than anything.
Thats like saying Intel released an i9 to compete with a 7700 and not the 7900.

Quote from: Chuck on December 13, 2022, 15:51:02What? The consensus is AMD underdelivered? I haven't seen any reviews that said that. Most re saying 7900 is the best bang for buck by a lot.

QuoteThe cards are not terrible by any means since they are mostly on par with the RTX 4080 and cost $200 less

They're saying that, too. They're just also saying there are issues and that the performance, while good, is not quite what AMD promised. Hopefully they'll get things sorted over the next few weeks and the cards will be closer in performance and power usage to what they claimed, and it's disappointing they didn't get that done before release, but as much as I like AMD, their releases seem to often not be very smooth.

Reports from sources close to Moore's Law Is Dead suggest that AMD's driver team has been tasked with working on quick fixes for some of the bugs plaguing the 7900 XTX models. Hopefully the new drivers can fix the power draw issues and maybe even improve the underwhelming performance a little.
