Probably start closer to 80k than 40. Bigger, more capable vehicles cost more, not less, and no tesla is cheap

Just wondering what a break light is, something new from Tesla?

The Cybertruck is function over form - everything about it is driven by the desired functionality. Specifically, it's designed to be strong, durable, efficient to manufacture, and light, which is why it's made from sheet stainless steel. The sheet metal is so strong it can't be formed, so it has to be folded, so it's got to be angular. And it's a structural skin, an approach that makes vehicles (like many airplanes) much stronger and lighter. And it's not painted, because that'd make it cost a _lot_ more - painting is the single most expensive operation in making cars. If Tesla's right, then the CT ends up stronger, more durable, lower cost, and lighter than competing trucks, and it's utility that many people buy trucks for; think of people who work in trucks for a living, like lawn car, construction, wordworking, etc. - if their truck gets the job done, is more durable, and costs less to fuel and maintain, that's all that matters. They don't need pretty formed sheet metal, paint, etc.

Keep in mind also that Tesla doesn't need to get 100% of the market to succeed - Ford has 3.7% of the vehicle market, making it the most popular vehicle made, so if the Cybertruck's focus on function over form is polarizing and they only get half the F150's market share, Tesla will be thrilled.

I will never understand the mentality of those who dislike the Cybertruck.  I understand them not liking the design, it is controversial. But what is up with the hatred toward the truck and the attempts to belittle anyone who does like it?  Seems childish to me and kind of says "I don't  understand what this is, so I will become irrationally mad if you do understand  it".
I don't care for F150's so you know what I do??? I don't read articles about them and them and try to vent my dislike in a hateful way in the comment!!!  Maybe others could try that approach also?!?

Musk used many devices to pump the stock price during the Model-3 production ramp-up cash-burn and the Cybertruck was one of them. This entire vehicle lives in the same realm as full-self-driving, the Roadster-2, the Tesla-Semi, 1-million-robotaxis and the Tesla-bot.

Just like people, when it comes to vehicles,  beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You and many others think its butt ugly; That's your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it. I think its unique, futuristic and a very practical vehicle for my use case and there are many others who feel the same way. There's no right or wrong here, just preference. I don't own a Tesla, and am not a fanboy. In fact, I definitely am NOT a fan of Musk who I think has developed a God complex, but none of that is relevant. What is relevant is how well the cybertruck will sell and at what price. It was originally offered at dirt cheap prices and if they back pedal on it and price it too high, they risk limiting their target market to those who want to buy this only as a toy rather than for practical use cases like contractors, etc.

OMG, this thing is even uglier than we could imagine.  Anyone that buys this turd will get ridiculed. Musk has a habit of making ugly nondescript jelly beans, but this thing is just a sad excuse and it's already been rumored that the 40k model isn't going to happen. This abomination will be like the other electric toys that most can't afford, except that it won't even look remotely good.
