More than half of the new Tesla cars shipped are now using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and LG is positioning itself for a play in the North American supply chain by building a new factory in Nanjing. Slated to become operational next year, it will first produce LFP cells for energy storage systems, before moving on to electric vehicles.
