I hate Dell. They just doesn't care about Linux users. There was an issue with thermald service in Ubuntu 20.04 It was partially fixed by open-source comunity, but Dell still doesn't provide any changes for more than 1.5 year. Also it's almost imposible to connect 2 screen with dell dock station.

You can run Linux (eg Ubuntu) on pretty much any Thinkpad without problem. The XPS is too much about fashion to be great. Anyway, putting an Intel chip in a thin and light is a useless balancing act of fan/batterylife/heat/power. People are waiting for the x13s to be fully supported by Linux, which is close.

Dell and Canonical continue to collaborate on bringing Ubuntu to the XPS series. The XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition is now the first laptop certified for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, which builds on the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS that Dell already ships with the XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will begin shipping with the XPS 13 Plus Developer Edition from next month onwards.
