For end consumer no, but as a guy who is dealing with tons of Teslas coming from Shanghai (where I live) to our Germany warehouse, Shanghai produce 71K units a month at peak in 2022, when Berlin makes 'better' Tesla as this article suggested close to 1/10 of it. And the labor costs will definitely not be cheaper than Shanghai ... so

Quote from: Thomasdune on July 10, 2022, 17:39:02This is a stupid article. It's got nothing to do with China vs Germany like the headline suggests. It's basically the difference between a slightly older version (Chinese) and the latest version (German). Since the German factory is new, of course the cars produced there are built using the latest specifications.

The headline merely suggests that there is a difference between Model Y which are made in Germany and China, respectively. As of today, that is the case. The last paragraph of my article specifically mentions that Tesla may soon introduce these upgrades in its Chinese-made units.

A detail-oriented YouTuber has carefully examined the small differences between a Tesla Model Y that has been manufactured in the new Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in Germany, and a unit which was made in Tesla's established production site in Shanghai, China.
