With iPadOS giving apps access to up to 16gb of ram, stage manager windowing and proper external display support there isn't a lot of roadblocks holding the iPad back anymore.  This fall it will be a more viable choice for peoples only computer than its ever been.   I can definitely see the design teams playing with the 12.9 and thinking... you know a 14.1 would give us more screen room... give graphic artists more room to draw, etc.

I develop and tend to have a bit of everything...  I have a mac and an ipad and the expectations and how your work on them are just different.  But glad apple has taken the training wheels off iPadOS and think a 14.1 model would be cool.   Of course I want to see an M1/M2 mac mini... ultra portability and a desktop powerhouse with an external monitor/keyboard.

14" iPAD ?
At that point you just might as well pick a M2 powered Air, price will probably be not that different

Reportedly, Apple could expand the iPad Pro range this year with a 14.1-inch model. To launch alongside refreshed 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, all iPad Pro 2022 tablets are expected to rely on the new Apple M2 SoC, which should offer numerous performance advantages over Apple M1.
