This is the only relatively honest article I've seen about this cooling device. It's really suitable only in very dry climates such as AZ. The same concept is used there for whole house "swamp coolers ". People do not understand how this works. You do NOT want it in humid climates. The best it can do in that case is to create a cool, DAMP environment.

"3.5-hour lifetime" :D

Perhaps I lack imagination but who exactly wants to humidify air in the summer (which is when most people want cooling)? People living in a desert? You probably want the exact opposite. Not to mention that air naturally becomes more relatively humid as temperature goes down. Actually, dehumidification makes up a large chunk of energy consumption of an air-conditioner as water vapour undergoes a phase-change.

The ChillWell Portable AC can provide up to 3.5 hours of evaporative cooling between charges. The gadget can act as an air cooler, a fan and a humidifier. Plus, the company claims that the device can produce cold air in 30 seconds, working best in high-temperature, low humidity environments.
