Bought these previous two models, 5 and 6. Sight improvement each time. However they cannot record my daytime sleeps.
The firmware does auto update, as does the smartphone application, if you give it permission.
Notifies when SMS, phone calls, alarms, appointments, etc, so it is a worthwhile replacement for most smartwatchs.

If they can get NFC payments working this will be absolute bargain at $50. Good quality and decent basic fitness tracker.

It appears that Xiaomi is close to announcing the Band 7, its next-generation fitness tracker that will replace the Mi Band 6. Not only has the design of the Xiaomi Band 7 leaked, but so has the price of its NFC variant.
