I bought this new Envy (1260p, Iris XE, 400nit, 16GB, 1TB, touch w/pen) with positive expectations, and while all the updated features from the previous Envy x360 SOUNDS wonderful the simple simple fact is the build quality of this line is abysmal.
I know because I didn't just buy one. So far I am on the 5th unit and the first thing to note is while HP claims 400nit screens (right on the box too lol!) only one of the 5 came in over 330nits (331) the other 4 were 300, 301, 302 and 278. The first sub-par screen unit also ran hot, an anomaly I assumed but no the 2nd had same inferior screen, ran hot AND the fan whine was crazy-loud (high-pitched, intolerable). The 3rd (different store, same unit) had same low-end screen, same heat but quieter fan, loose touchpad with crazy behaviour like freezing cursor, no input response, dead keyboard keys weird screen flicker...
By the 4th I knew the "400nit" screen was false advertising as I got another 300 base model (all of them are the same screen model from AUO) still running hot, fan okay, touchpad again loose and wonky, random screen flashes, unresponsive keyboard keys. This 5th one once again is 25% less bright than promised @ 99nits below HP's claim, but seems physically better than the first 4, although it's still pretty warm compared to the i7-1165g7 Envy I gave up to "upgrade" to this one.
Big mistake that was. I web-surfed with that one on my lap for 8 straight hours and never felt a temperature change, the 1260p's were/are all hot 2-3 minutes after turning them on. The 1165g7 also had 16GB (also DDR4), 1TB but a 250nit screen - and it was $300 less. I thought I was paying more for a brighter screen and a faster and more efficient (cooler?) cpu... So not true, so far this thing is a grand disappointment in every way. I so wanted it to be awesome like the 1165g7 I gave up for it, only better! But there is a lot of blatant baloney claims and zero quality control to be had from HP on this model, there is only junky and junkier it seems...
After 0 of 5 not even coming close to the 400nit claim one would almost think HP knowingly lied about the screen brightness  because if buyers put a 300nit screen next to a 250 it is still comparably brighter - so unless the target home consumer  actually confirms the true nit level (as opposed to just comparing it side-by with another laptop) they'd never know they were basically scammed. As for the build quality, either they're getting made at a different (read inferior) facility now or everyone on the assembly has been dead-drunk since March of 2022!

HP is offering an upgraded Envy x360 15.6-inch convertible in both Intel Alder Lake-P and AMD Barcelo-U options. The Intel variant offers a few extra goodies like optional QHD 120 Hz display and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity while the AMD variant makes do with up to an FHD OLED option. HP says that it has focused on collaborative features such as a 5 MP webcam and the HP Palette suite.
