the leak suggests that the Mini 3 will be twice the price of the Mini 2

Not really. The Mini 2 in the US is currently US$450 for the basic drone, and US$600 for the FlyMore combo vs US$520 and US$768 respectively for the Mini 3.

The Mini 3 Pro gets closer to double at US$786 and US$934 but still not double.

It's only when you switch to the new controller (only available with the FlyMore combo) that it doubles.

Either way.. it's clear that the Mini 3 is meant as an upgrade to the Mini 2 while the Mini 3 Pro is meant as a "downgrade" to the Mavic Air 2 - basically squeezing it into a sub-250g chassis to let pros and prosumers slip under the magic 250g limit and not need a license.
