TLDL: do not get an all AMD laptop if you want to play games like AoE2 DE.

Even after all the BIOS updates and new drivers, Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition exhibits extreme frame drops, stuttering and lag (no matter the power mode, resolution or quality settings, FPS limits). FPS fall from 150+ down to 1FPS as the game progresses. Every time you place a building, especially farms, the game micro freezes for half a second.

This is due to the AMD Radeon RX GPU (6700S, 6800S) still having optimisation issues.

This is not an issue with AMD+Nvidia or Intel+Nvidia laptops like the Asus G15, M16 or Legion 5, 5 Pro, 7, Slim 7i.
Even the all AMD Lenovo Slim 7 (2022) has the same FPS issues as the all AMD Asus G14 (2022).

Is it possible to order without AniMe Matrix LED? Does anyone have a link to such configuration?

How come that nearly all the gaming bench marks of this model out performing the 12gb 6800m in the rog g15 advantage ? was there a driver issue during your benchmarks on the rog g15 ?

Missing features with the Asus G14 2022:
- 16GB VRAM
- 1080p webcam with physical privacy shutter
- 135W+ USB C charging
- PD and DP out on all USB C ports
- USB 4.0 on all USB C and A ports
- Black keys on white chassis with larger fonts
- Larger rubber feet on bottom of display

Interesting alternative with better keyboard:
Lenovo ThinkPad P1/X1 Extreme Gen 5 (Intel i9-12950H, 64GB, 1x M.2280, RTX 3080 Ti, 16GB VRAM, 110W)

Would be good to know the contrast of the FHD 144Hz option. 1000:1 contrast is just too low for a high end laptop.
Huawei and Lenovo put 1200:1 to 1500:1 contrast panels. Sorry Asus, this won't cut it!

Agree with Matthew L and Cooe. Something isn't agreeing with other reviews (including ultrabookreview.com's review in which they also do repetitive CBR15 runs) and the power consumption values for the CPU (75 W or less) versus the GPU (<105 W)

You say most the body is plastic ? You serious ? Did you do any research before this publishing this  review? Much disappointed

Thanks for the notice and sorry for the mistake. It's corrected now.

@Cooe: There will be a dedicated performance review of the 6900HS. In turbo-mode some cpu-results are much higher as you will see.

@Ayoh: I can check that after the iGPU benchmarks are done, which will follow for a dedicated article or at least for the gpu page.

Is there any power throttling on battery for the CPU? if so how much difference compared to plugged in? you guys should really make a performance test on battery a standard part of your reviews. Often some laptops have rubbish performance on battery power

Something is VERY wrong with your testing if you saw ZERO CPU performance improvement vs last gen... The R9 6900HS is UNQUESTIONABLY faster than the last-gen R9 5900HS... It's even faster than the R9 5980HS last-gen flagship for craps sake! (Check literally ANY OTHER REVIEW BUT YOURS! And here's one for you if you're just too damn lazy... 😑

pcworld.c0m/article/614944/amd-ryzen-9-6900hs-review-game-changing-performance-for-tiny-laptops.html ).

Is it a dramatic difference? No, but the multi-thread gains are VERY respectable! (Aka in the +≈15-25% range depending on the workload vs the R9 5980HS/5900HS).

What the hell happened to this site over the past year or so??? Article quality and accuracy has absolutely FALLEN OFF A FREAKING CLIFF!!!! 😑🤦‍♂️

How about RDNA2 iGPU performance?

Do not Ignore the Integrated Graphics and do not ignore Blender 3D(3.0/Later editions) Cycles-X rendering on both the Integrated and discrete graphics at the same time. So once Blender 3.2 arrives and AMD gets its ROCm/HIP Ducks in order Please try that Cycles-X rendering out with the Ray Sample set high and all of the render passes Ray Traced.

Blender 3D's developers have dropped OpenCL API support for their Newer Cycles-X GPU rendering acceleration so please add that to your testing.

End Users spend the majority of time in their needed applications so more testing there for that instead of just gaming only tests and the other usual tests.

Your chart on the power profiles of the CPU seems to be wrong. We haven't been able to see an AMD powered laptop pull over 100W on the CPU. I think you have got your values mixed up with the GPU power.

According to other resources, the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS CPU in the G14 is able to pull a maximum of ~75W.
