OMG!  It's got a notch!  A NOTCH, I tell you.  EWWWWW!  Get over it.

Rosetta 2? Not only do you not give any specific examples, the fact that Apple provides it AT ALL says volumes about their devotion to customers.  How long will they support it?  Honestly, if a developer is at all serious about working with Apple they have already updated their apps.  The M1 is already over a year old.  (It's 2022, by the way.)

2017 & 2016 MacBook Pros are FIVE and SIX years old!  iPhone 6?  At least SEVEN years old!  Apple has moved away from the butterfly keyboards several models ago, but also had a free repair program.

Finally, the whole "wide world" of PC laptops is so confusingly overloaded with gimmicky models it rapidly becomes overwhelming.  A moderately equipped M1 Pro MacBook outperforms 95% of them anyway, so why bother.  On the plus side, you can roast your dinner on them, too.  Software compatibility is no longer an issue either, with major developers providing 100% file equivalence across platforms.

This article uses near ancient anecdotes and is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to steer readers to the author's PC sponsors.  Let the buyer beware.

I worked for a PC company in the 90's up to 2002. I was PC all the way from the transition from DOS to Windows for workgroups to windows 95 etc. Once I could afford a Mac I was hooked. Not to say that the latest windows machines aren't great. I know that Dell makes some fantastic machines as does Lenovo and others. I just like the integration in the Apple world and the lates M1 chips are fantastic. It comes down to personal choice. To not be romantically involved with a person because they live in the Microsoft world sounds stupid to me. Typing on the MacBook Air M1 and it is a fine computer.

Had an iphone for years but always used PC laptops and desktops. Finally tried the M1 pro 14 inch laptop and... holy s***, this thing is dead silent and the battery lasts >1 day of light use (using occasionally through the day). MacOS takes some getting used to but probably never going back just because the chip thermals unless AMD or intel can match it.

@LinuxIsBetter
Tried Linux a lot of times and there always were problems with different things. Out of the box there are no distros whoch work as seamless as Windows not to mention Apple's OS. Sometimes even internet browser machines had problems without any real reason so no, Linyx is not better, maybe for servers but that's it.

I tried Windows, didn't like it. Tried various distributions of Linux over the years and found it interesting, but both Windows and Linux lack the seamless integration that macOS and iOS have.

Just use what works for you.

I started my computer life with two Apples.  Apple ][+ and Apple //e.
I maintained them and had some custom cards for speech and audio. Then came Mac.  Tiny screen and no user upgradable memory.

So I moved to something called an Amiga.  Blew the socks off anything Apple or PC for years, but Commodore had no idea what to do with it.

Finally as I was working at Microsoft, I change to PC and Windows 3.1.

I buy what works for me.  Every few years I upgrade my notebook.  Since I use it to write and some of my favorite writing apps are best on Mac OS, I always look at the Mac.  Problem is I have never typed on a MacBook keyboard that I liked. Some were terrible.  That is saying a lot since some of my machines a few years ago were Acers.  Yet when they released a machine with Keyboard issues they created an updated keyboard and would replace it, or in my case they sent me one, and I did the replacement myself, even video taped it for youtube.

There is nothing I care about on my Windows notebook that I could not do on a Mac.  Problem is I can choose my hardware and in my case have found the HP Spectre keyboards to joy to write on.  Its not the OS, its the cheap hardware sold as a premium brand that bothers me.  Rivets to hold keyboard? Sometimes its almost like Apple wants to see how much crap they can pull and still be loved.

One time a girl was interested in me.  I saw that she was an "Apple girl" and said "ew".  I'd always been a PC guy.  Apple fans take note, being equipped with Apple equipment can turn off PC people you want to get together with!!  Apples & PCs are not romantically compatible...

We all know that the Apple M1 MacBook Pro is a fantastic piece of hardware - it is fast, thin, light and efficient - but Apple's performance in the few years leading up to the M1 launch was not great. If you're using a MacBook in need of an upgrade, there are reasons to go visit Windows-land - some of them petty, others less so.
