this is getting ridiculous. s21 is made of plastic in the back. it doesn't get a charger in the box. it doesn't have micro sd anymore. the screen is not curved anymore so it is cheaper to make. the sensor in the camera is the same one as in a few generations now. the battery size is still at 4000 mah for a couple of years. so what exactly do you get for that 800$ price you pay? i think people should start looking more into the second hand market. I will buy an s21 for 400$ instead of paying 800$ for the same phone with a s22 name.

That is exactly the reason why top smartphone brands remove the still-useful 3.5mm headphone jack and the still-relevant microSD card support. They want you to spend more on wireless earbuds and cloud storage. That is why I have now stopped looking at top brands and only look at Sony since they still manage to be sensible.

You stated the reason for the price hikes is due to the chip shortage. I'm curious as to the profit margin Samsung makes on each phone, I pretty much guarantee they could eat the increased cost of the higher chip cost and still profit plenty.

The true reason for the increased cost is because the S21 series was a success and they know or feel like they can get away with this increase.

Let's face it, corporate greed and profit margins are the true drivers of increased cost to the consumer!
