Wow a 2021 CPU beat 2020 CPU while using more power what a wonderful news.

The moment this i3-12100 is released it will around 2 years after the release of Ryzen 3300X. This shows how overrated this i3 is right now.
Actually it just shows how AMD has abandoned this segment, the latest part (5300G) is OEM-only and it's not really an improvement over the 3300x, this i3 is not overrated, it's needed.

It's actually not fair to blame amd. They just don't have the resources to compete in all sectors. They had to concentrate on where the big money is and they have gained some server market, and thus secured some revenue so that they can keep the R&D going.
Intel on the other hand just kept milking it's customers with 4 cores forever when there was no competition even when it had all the money.
Anyway, the new core i3 is a good thing.
This would remind amd not to be like intel lol

Oh yah! A company with $174 billion with a B market cap are the poor guys. They don't release cheaper part not because of greed but because they have to "concentrate on where the big money is". God, I hate these fanboys.

Yes, Intel didn't release faster parts when they didn't have competition. The same reason AMD is not releasing zen3 Threadrippers because they don't have much competition in that segment. That's why you shouldn't be a fanboy of billion dollar companies. When they do something good like releasing a performant product for cheap (like Intel 12th gen and AMD zen2) then appreciate it. When they do dick moves (like Intel not releasing 4+ cores for lack of competition and AMD abandoning Ryzen 3 for low margin and not releasing zen3 threadripper for lack of competition) then say boo. How hard is that?

It would be interesting to hear that this i3 is trading blows with Ryzen 5600G. That's what AMD did with 5600X by comparing it with Intel's higher end.

This is indeed great news.
AMD has not tried to compete in the budget market for a while and now that we have some real competition, we might see some real innovation.
The high-end alderlake processors aren't really a big deal. But this is significant if true. It shouldn't be forgotten than before Ryzen, 4 core 8 thread was reserved for the elite gamers as core i7. Core i5 was everyone's favourite back then.

Intel may have a winner in the popular US$120 processor segment with the Core i3-12100. The Core i3-12100 is yet to be released, but early benchmarks prove that the entry-level Alder Lake-S processor has enough muscle to beat the AMD Ryzen 3 3300X and Ryzen 3 3100 in most benchmarks, that too with reduced power consumption and thermals.
