You used to be able to get a no frills card for like $30. These days the only cards under $100 are Geforce 730s from 8 years ago. This is particularly painful when building a workstation as mid to high range CPUs lack integrated graphics.

"so the year 2022 is shaping up to be a splendid one for gamers on a tight budget"- LOL. Good with releases, but with MSRP of entry tier cards expected at $200+, and market price- most likely to be crazy $300-$400. When in normal market (one that is not ruined by cryptominers), entry tier was ~$70-$120.

AMD will reportedly launch the Radeon RX 6500 XT sometime in mid-January 2022. Its younger sibling, the Radeon RX 6400, will follow suit sometime in March.
