I'm excited to learn more about the DUO 2 and it's improvements for a potential replacement but this cause some concerns. Not because it doesn't lay flat... But because there are no raised angle bumps at the bottom or directly below the camera bump. Without this and the device flipped open for phone use will add additional wear on the hinge that raised bump is on. As we squeeze the phone the bottom without the raised bump will be squeezed tighter and in doing so add additional stress to the bumps side hinge. Leading to quicker wear and tear or even other deformed issues related to this unwanted additional stress. Could be nothing but for extreme phone users that go between calls and the function of the phone could be a significant impact.
