When Windows 10 was released, there was no other choice than Apple.  When Win 11 will be released, we CAN choose Deepin Linux or Harmony OS too.  What a world we live in!!

Oh please, I hope that it's a joke. No gaming, no upgradability and no custom building, people would rather switch to Linux if they have not already done so. A computer is more than its processor, people would rather have a slightly worse processor with more capability than a theoretically more efficient one that bar them from doing what they were used to do.

Windows 11 is irrelevant. Microsoft is just trying to placate its investors by releasing something shiny and new.

Two words: 'Apple Silicon'.

It doesn't matter if you release a Win 10 with cosmetic tweaks (hello again Vista Aero glass)... you're still messing around with Intel x86 chips. Meanwhile, Apple is using M1 for its Macs, soon M2 will be used.

Windows users want backward compatibility, and unfortunately it seems that's going away as Microsoft wants a walled garden of its own to push its own failing app store.

It's time to switch to a Mac, and I say that as a longtime Windows user since Win 3.11. Many of you weren't even born then.

All you need is Dosbox for Mac and a program to transfer your stuff on NTFS-formatted drives over for MacOS to read/write.

Windows 7 was the last great Windows Microsoft had released. Then it went full retard and started chasing those Metro tiles. Even cannibalized Nokia along the way in an attempt to chase Apple and Android.

Microsoft has done this before..  new devices running the new OS... will likely come out just in time (or if they time it badly like they have before, almost too late) for christmas gifting...  then roll out the upgrade sometime in January / February.

That said microsoft is getting a credibility problem..  a couple years ago (at least it seems that long) they announced their duo screen device and the new version of windows that would support dual screen devices...  we were likely going to see 3rd party devices in that form factor, etc...  the only thing to actually get released was their android phone (currently on closeout at about 1/2 price).   How we are told windows 11 is coming... some day.   They seem to be battling 'actual' competition with 'vaporware'

Every new message about the new Windows seems more preposterous than the last.
If it wasn't MS itself that was releasing all of this information I'd think it's a bad joke.

Almost certainly this is because OEMs would prefer to see people upgrading their 2 years old PC rather than getting a free OS upgrade. But it's also an own goal for Microsoft in terms of quickly expanding the adoption rate, people early on might want to upgrade because of the novelty, bu wait a few months and the rumours about the inevitable issues (more or less serious) affecting the new OS might deter a lot of people to upgrade no matter the amount of popups you keep pushing.

Seems like a lot of mistakes were made. Poor PR, poor communication. Everyone seems to be caught by surprise. Even manufacturers seem to be unprepared for this new Windows. What an epic blunder. One would hope Microsoft to be better than that.

Microsoft announced the launch of Windows 11 this week with the good  news that it will be a free upgrade and that it will be released later this year. What it neglected to mention at the launch, however, is that while it will launch on new PCs in Q4, updates for existing Windows 10 users won't arrive till 2022.
