I've been wondering, would a new engine running on low be more efficient, or would an old engine running on high? For example say this engine running on low visually looks comparable to Crysis 1's engine on high, which would have a higher frame rate running on the same graphics?

With Resident Evil Village set to release soon, outlets with review copies have published benchmarks that indicate that the game will scale very well on lower-end hardware. PC Gamer even managed to get Resident Evil Village running on the Ryzen 5 3400G with integrated graphics, albeit at 720p/60.
