I suspect they're playing games, one way or the other, to get more. Either they were using the rumors of a potential Microsoft merger to gain attention and increase their IPO, or they walked away from the deal in an attempt to get a better deal from Microsoft, similar to walking away from a salesman. I do hope they don't sell out to Microsoft, and why the FTC keeps allowing MS to buy so many companies is beyond me.

The impending spectre of a Discord that had merged with Microsoft is now off the table, as the chat-service company has now reportedly lost interest in striking such a deal with the Redmond giant. According to the latest rumors, it has now re-visited the prospect of an initial public offering (IPO) instead.
