Pair this with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800U (8 Core 16 Threads - default TDP 15w), the battery life would be golden.

Are razer laptops reliable .. i am asking cos i am from india and wanna buy a decent gaming laptop that is not quiet heavy ... and razer has no official stores and service centres in india yet so if i ask my cousin to buy a razer laptop from usa will it run without issues for at least  6-7 years ?

I'm from India and I bought a Blade 15  (Advanced, 8750H/2070MQ). It' s two years in, no component failure, no battery issues (and the battery still lasts 5.5 hours on a charge). Use Throttlestop and keep the turbo off on battery and you'll be gucci. I also keep it overclocked in Afterburner during games to get 2070 Super Max-Q class performance (~7500 in Time Spy Graphics).

Most people here spend way too much time on Reddit and forming opinions rather than owning laptops - coming from an engineering college in India (in a fairly isolated place), literally no one in my hostel ever had laptop problems for which they needed technical support/sending in a laptop for repairs to a service centre - unless they dropped their laptops. Also Idk if most people buying Razer laptops are RGB-crazed teenagers who don't know how to treat expensive gadgets properly and start complaining at the first sign of trouble, but I think it holds true for most laptops that if you want to find issues and bad reviews, you'll find them online with pretty much every laptop - even the go-to professional favorite the XPS 15.

Ignore Dorby if you don't foresee yourself physically damaging the laptop. Keep it clean, open it up from time to time, clean the fans and change thermal paste. Do the needful and you'll be fine. It's expensive but the aluminium unibody is the best in the business (apart from the Macbook Pro's and the Surface Book 15). If you're paranoid, go for a Dell/HP/Lenovo since they have service centres in India.

Just note - Razer uses slightly lower quality batteries than Dell and Apple, so try not keeping your laptop permanently plugged into a wall (that's not what a thin and light is meant for, anyway). Also, reconsider if chassis build quality isn't important for you - you'll get better performance from a cheaper or thicker laptop.

Also in case Dorby replies to this with the old Linus Tech review of the Blade 14's he bought for himself and his employees and the issues they faced - it's an old design, it was the only laptop with those level of components in a 14" formfactor at the time, and the company was also much younger as well. Not a great example. He himself keeps switching between the XPS 13 and Blade Stealth 13 as his personal favorites.

Ted talk over.
"Ignore Dorby if you don't foresee yourself physically damaging the laptop."

That's the thing. Even if you didn't damage it yourself, Razer won't recognize an issue as their issue. I know others have had issues, but I only speak for myself. In 2015 I've personally gone through the excruciating process of their RMA service, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. At the end, I ended up refunding mine. Yes, things may be different today, but in my experience OEMs don't change.

When you buy a Razer laptop, it's a complete gamble. Unless everything works looks and works perfect out of the box and you don't encounter any issues while you use it long-term, you're going to have to go through the same horrible process. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with bad or non-existent service on cheap products, but theirs' advertise Premium, and that's where I have the issue. It's almost same or even worse than dealing with a Crowdfunding Startup, which is ridiculous.

So yes, to anyone looking for a new laptop, I would absolutely not recommend Razer, and for a good reason. It's because unlike other PC manufacturers like Dell or HP, their issues with QC and Service aren't just a case of "vocal minority".
If you do buy one however, remember don't count on Razer's input after you make your purchase, and you should be just fine.

Far from it. Avoid Razer if you want a device that is reliable. They have a notorious, long history of some of the worst Quality Control and Afterpurchase Service in the laptop industry. If you're an unlucky customer, even having a Razer service center right next door isn't going to help you.

AMD should not sell chips to Razer. Razer should sink with Intel.

Are you mentally okay? Do you need help?
I'm starting to hate AMD for pushing those 8 core HX overkill CPUs in consumer throat and strangulate available cooling resource and GPU TDP. I need help.

I'm not expect much from this, TDP wise. Maybe 80W, or even lower.
On the 15 inch model, the TDP isn't already high so with a 14 inch....

I wish they would update their 15 models with Ryzen CPU instead of introducing this brand new 14 inch device...

Don't think it matters to most Razer notebook fans.
As long as it can cool the hardware adequately and not be overpriced ( it will be ) they might have something compelling to look forward too.
Still rocking my GTX 870M 14'" Razer

The inclusion of the Max-Q version of the RTX 3070 seems to be suggesting that Razer's thin and light chassis on the upcoming AMD-powered 14-inch models only allow for lower-TGP dGPU options. Can Razer also add an RTX 3080 Max-Q and are these options really making sense for such price premiums when Lenovo is offering the Max-P versions on the Legion 5 Pro and Legion 7 with superior price/performance ratios?
