In The Witcher 3, the Razer seems to be 11% faster than XMG PRO 15, while drawing 98W GPU Power. The GPU Power draw of XMG PRO 15 is not mentioned in the article. cTGP is 90W, but it can boost to 105W whenever the CPU is below 35W. I assume that The Witcher 3 at Full-HD will keep the CPU busy above 35W, so let's assume 90W GPU Power for the XMG PRO 15.

This would be 11% performance benefit for only 8% more GPU Power.

Potential reasons:
• Razer Blade was probably tested with NVIDIA Optimus disabled. The article mentions, that you need to disable Optimus to get 120Hz support so it's natural that that's what they did for benchmarking. XMG PRO does not allow to disable NVIDIA Optimus in the Early 2021 generation.
• Razer Blade might be a Max-P Design while XMG PRO is definately Max-Q. This might involve different maximum VRAM memory clocks, giving the Max-P system a slight edge. Spec sheets refer to 6GHz for Max-Q and 7GHz for Max-P.
• Razer's review samples is using the i7-10875H while our XMG PRO 15 is using i7-10870H. That's only 100MHz difference, but it's more than nothing. ;-)
• What I find weird is "Uncore Frequency" in the CPU-Z screenshots (Razer, XMG). Razer is quoted with 4489MHz Uncore, while XMG only with 4291.6MHz. Not sure which of these values should be default or what impact it makes. I'll check with our testing team to see what they say.

By the way: thank you to Notebookcheck for the review! If anyone has any questions about XMG PRO (Early 2021), please let us know. Also, don't miss our general overview thread about XMG laptops with RTX 3000 graphics.

Cheers,
Tom

How come the razer blade seems so much faster with only 10w more?

Schenker updated its XMG Pro. The new model is less similar to the older and thicker Pro 15 and more akin to a refresh of Schenker's ultra-thin Key 15. It features an RTX 3080 instead of the previously installed RTX 2080 Super but is it actually any faster? And what other benefits does the new model offer over the old one? Let's out in our extensive review.
