That could be a wise decision. Qualcomm's most recent midrange chipsets were quite far away from their flagship brothers. And Qualcomm's new 5nm chipsets seem to be barely a progress compared to their 7nm-based chips, but far more expensive (just compare the prices of the Redmi K40 and K40 Pro). So MediaTek would be cheaper, fast, more efficient. Some people will cry that they can't install ROMs on MediaTek-equipped phones, but that's just a little minority anyway.

According to a new rumour, OnePlus is gearing to release a successor to the popular OnePlus Nord. Dubbed the OnePlus Nord 2, the device will arrive between April and June 2021. However, the OnePlus Nord 2 will supposedly eschew Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets for the MediaTek Dimensity 1200.
