It's very apple of them to even have this as a thing haha.

I mean, every Iphone has an SoC, but also every smartphone, and tablet.
Thats not an Apple thing it's just the way it is for mobile devices :)
I wasn't aware that NBC has those readers, I was expecting them over at Cnet and Engadget.

I was confused too. I guess it means "system on a card". From what i read, (to make it easy, i just copied the main summary) it:

Stands for "System On a Chip." An SoC (pronounced "S-O-C") is an integrated circuit that contains all the required circuitry and components of an electronic system on a single chip. It can be contrasted with a traditional computer system, which is comprised of many distinct components

It's very apple of them to even have this as a thing haha. It's maybe their way of securing less competition. I have no idea haha. But hope this helps because i had never heard of that either and thought i should know what it is lol. Anyway, enjoy your day! 8)

According to a new report, Apple will announce at least three new products at its next hardware event. Supposedly scheduled for March 16, the event is expected to showcase the iPad mini 6, AirTags and a 2021 refresh of the iPad Pro series. The 12.9-inch version of the latter should have some impressive hardware upgrades too, including a new SoC that will rival the Apple M1.
