I think people will start to see a lot of benchmarks showing that the news concerning The Medium poor performance on the RTX 3080 are false and likely due to a reviewer posting benchmarks of pre release code.

Yes the game is demanding but also uses ray tracing extensively and the environments are in many areas extremely photorealistic. So this is no COD.

With that said the performance is quite acceptable being able to play at more than 60 FPS at 1440p and even 4k depending on your DLSS settings and your raytracing settings. 
I know from experience but I also found benchmarks on Youtube that are consistent with my personal experience.

The game does have some bugs that can cause drop in frames, texture pop in and other issues. And the most annoying bug for me. HDR is broken last I checked. This is unacceptable to me so people should definitively complain about that until there is a fix.

The Medium is a "demanding game" from the perspective that it is a real next gen title as we all expected. The purpose of new next gen focused titles is to offer  more immersive experiences due to the progress of technology. That obviously means its more demanding.

Still The Medium clearly shows the benefit of owning a RTX 3080 as it delivers great next gen graphics with good performance even with Ray Tracing enabled.
It shows that ray tracing is really getting a lot more focus in new titles . AMD needs to invest more in Ray Tracing since NVIDIA has a comfortable lead and RT is only going to grow in importance. 
The Medium on RTX 3080 and above also shows "the future" as it really looks stunning.
This is something you need to experience to understand but if you want some reference, consider that just the last couple of years we were seeing videos of Unreal Engine showing real time photorealistic graphics that were never possible on old consoles.
Now we are seeing that level of graphics in video games.

Anyone with a RTX 3080 should be more then happy has The Medium further proves that this graphics card can deliver a next gen RT experience.

I have a 3080.  Maxed out settings and ray tracing. 1440P 75-105 FPS.  Your system is to blame.

Blame cross platform, the framework is heavy, and likely not their own engine.

My game runs smoothly at
3840 x 1200. I didn't check the fps. But I'm sure it's decent If it runs smoothly.

I haven't frequented this site for extremely long, I just click occasionally to see just how ridiculous their posts get... But was there ever a time where this site wasn't just reframing articles from other sites as click bait? They've passed off rumors and analysis as fact and then give source credit of said rumors to other sites to give them validity, or posts like this where they sensationalize something that isn't at all a big deal.

I sure hope the site is making someone some cash, because it certainly isn't informing anyone. Or maybe it's a wonderful site, save for all the pages Google keeps sending my way.

Something is wrong with the author's hardware; I'm running this at 1440p with max settings and ray tracing on and I get 75+ FPS.

Imagine actually believing that this game looks too good for current hardware when in fact it's just a piece of unoptimized junk
