I really hoped they would put a webcam in this year. Well it seems I will have to buy other laptop.

Seems reasonable, there are plenty of 14 inch gaming laptops with those specs on the market AND a must-have webcam to choose from. I would buy it if only the chassis was light gray instead of black or white, I guess I'll have to pass on this one too.

Still no webcam and I bet the true battery life is still less than 4 hours.

I would love to see this type of config in a mini desktop / small form factor.
Personally i'm not a fan of a fancy "gaming" cases with ton of LEDs and logotypes on a laptop so this ROG designs is not for me...
Probably not popular because desktop gaming PC users want a more modular / upgradeable design and laptop chips in a miniPC are designed for removal.

ASUS does however make a Ryzen 4800U based miniPC called PN50, with which you can theoretically hook up a desktop grade TB3 eGPU through its M.2 PCIe storage port.

There is a Youtube channel called TechTablets that has tested this niche setup for people who want a portable, small form-factor performance PC, but don't necessarily want to buy a gaming laptop.

Will they actually let you buy the system with high-performance components, without paying a 500 EUR/USD markup for the dumb lightshow on the lid?

For anyone concern about missing WebCam, try DroidCam app. Working just fine for me.

5600HS + 3060 Max-P could be fantastic combination.

I'd always rather have one for backup than nothing at all.

Really, people, you care that much about a webcam in a gaming laptop? So buy an external one. I for one am glad it doesn't have a webcam, keeps it neat.

I hope the thermals have improved from last year because this feels like the right time for me to finally replace my laptop that died 2 years ago now.

Personally I couldn't care less about a webcam. All laptops have one and I maybe used mine 0.0001% of the time I have the laptop. There are so many other alternatives, external webcams or even just use your phone.

hmm...this article doesn't contain the details yet. is this the 5900HS at 35W + 80W TGP (which will drop to ~30 W on battery? So I guess the new g14 will have the battery life & thermals of the old g14? 10-11 hrs. And the new 15W 5000 series ryzen can have 17-20 hrs matching macbook air/pro m1?

Damn, I wanted a 14" display with touch, 32GB RAM and a Webcam - come on, it's 2021 and COVID will be here for a while with work from home and cafes... Happy to pay more for the specs.

As far as I'm concerned, they can drop webcams from more models.  Save a few bucks and put in a better screen.

Ugh, was excited to see an update, then no webcam. Why! Lost a likely sale here...
