I also ordered from the Eve branded web site, not indiegogo crowd funding, and did not receive the product I paid for nor any kind of refund. I did dispute the charge with my credit card issuer less than 120 days after original purchase, but sadly the dispute was denied (I still suspect Fortress Tech provided false documentation to fight the chargeback). Had to cancel the card and take the hit to my credit report, as there is no way I was actually going to pay Chase to pay Fortess Tech for defrauding me.

4 years later this month, and I still have no product (even after those who ordered years after me got one supposedly?!?), I have no refund, and an getting no further replies from Eve.  I'm cringing watching a while new round of customers get suckered in for their new vaporware..........

Add another $3000 to the total. I ordered two Eve V in the December 2017 sale. Neither of the Eve V were delivered. I filled in all the useless forms but never received refunds.

I am still out of pocket.

The way that people who had legitimate complaints were treated on the Eve forum by Admins and other participants was absolutely disgraceful. Queries were censored and the amount of moralising that was directed at dissenters just highlighted how many fanboys were present.

Thanks again for helping get this information published. If anyone wants to see the data and the process of how I got this number, please feel free to reach out to me over on reddit as u/kirkle8. I have a very high confidence this number is actually well over the $225k, but from reddit alone I think it's a pretty good guess.

Like others have said, keep your money and wait until a functional product has been delivered.

This doesn't surprise me, sadly. I can't legally call Eve a scam, but I sure can say it's a crap company.
Regarding Spectrum, I would advise potential buyers to wait. Reputable companies like Acer and Asus will have HDMI 2.1 4K 144 Hz monitors on the market this summer for roughly $100-200 more. There will probably be sales for those monitors as well. So would you rather pay $800 for a monitor that will have horrible problems (if you even get it) that the company will do nothing about, or would you rather pay $900 for a monitor from a reputable company that will 100% give you a product and then will send you a new one or fix it if there are problems?
The choice is pretty obvious.

I purchased an Eve V in December of 2019, and it arrived, and everything worked fine for me. The keyboard died, and there was a whole debacle with that, after paying them for a new one (they only had a six month warranty on the keyboards) it was delay after delay, then they told me they didn't have any more English keyboards to send. I got them to cancel that order and I got my money back though, so I guess I'm lucky there. Got a keyboard from bridge instead that is WAY better. Honestly I like the device. It has cool features and it looks great. But for those people who didn't receive anything, Ugh. Must be a nightmare.

I am convinced the number of outstanding refunds is much greater than $225,000. If we assume Reddit is a sizeable sample of the overall people, let's say 25%, then we can expect the real number to be close to $900,000.

If we look at the current Spectrum prices, the margins must be razor thin, too. They are not going to be paying any refunds to those old customers soon!

Finally, with the recent previews of the Spectrum, I am looking forward to complaints from people having to wait for their refunds to be processed. LTT's video alone must be hurting them.

Thanks for posting this article, Alex.

Very interesting article. I'm very surprised that much of the discussion about Eve's shipping delays and unfulfilled "promises" are legion--with virtually no discussion about Eve's abysmal follow up and support with repairs and warranty issues!

Here's a new company, spinning up new devices on-the-fly, that struggles out of the gate to meet even basic product delivery. What do you think happens when their hardware devices develop issues AFTER arrival, while still under warranty?

In my case, Eve has been totally non-responsive and I sit here today with a totally bricked V system with less than 1 year on a 2-year warranty.

As a big Surface fan, I originally loved the option of a quality competitive device that Eve offered with its promises. So, I pulled the trigger on their top-of-the-live V.

After my V arrived (after extended delivery delays), I contacted Eve about an unstable Thunderbolt secondary monitor issue and received very minimal feedback. Resolution: I was never able to use a secondary monitor (despite following all driver updates and troubleshooting guidance).

A few months later, my V simply quit--bricked completely. After email exchanges with Eve, they agreed to replace the unit and promised that guidance would be sent "soon" to replace the unit. Unfortunately, despite a couple of responses from Eve promising to resolve the issue, *nothing* ever occurred. Eve now totally ignores the issue and I am a sad, but *much* wiser, owner of a $1,400 brick.

I can find no repair shops in the Seattle region who know anything about this device and won't fix it. And, Eve has offered no options for me.

So, yes, products from Eve might have decent features at a competitive price, but NO product is worth it when it breaks and there are no options for repair or replacement. No matter what a company promises, it's simply not worth the investment if they don't deliver.

Just sayin' -- buyer beware 😳

I'm one of those people. I've have previously commented on some of these stories. I'm still out $2,157 with no device.

They tried to peddle this claim to me that it was Fortress Tech's fault. So, what if it is? Eve made the decision to use them as a partner, not me.

Everything has been orchestrated in a way that limits Eve's liability and leaves people that would have otherwise been their supporters flapping in the wind. Meanwhile Fortress Tech went poof! I tried sending both companies letters which were returned due to relocation. As I'm sure we all well know they completely shut down any criticism on their forum by removing posts and banning posters. I've had posts removed in under a minute!

They aren't good at making products. What they are good at is making promise after empty promise. They're especially good at stringing people along to the point that they have zero recourse. That's all it is with them. I've seen so many instances of someone asking for a refund to get a response that is along the lines of, "just wait X amount of time". It's a tactic to delay until there's no way to get your money back from your bank.

They're doing everything they can to put us in their rearview mirror. It's all just a learning experience for them. Purchasers learned something all right. Eve on the other hand seems to be doing a bang-up job repeating history with their monitor.

Eve has two products in the pipeline this year, four years on from the ill-fated release of the original Eve V. However, there are still concerns about missing refunds for orders placed over three years ago. At least US$225,000 is allegedly owed.
