This is fantastic for consumers giving more choice and significant improvements. Once there was only one choice for CPU leadership now we have AMD and Apple making amazing products with TSMC's manufacturing capability. 5nm CPU was always going to be the best thing that ever happened to mobile devices, Apple design and optimisations make the most of this advantage. Expect to see AMD 5nm offerings late next year to compete. .

Apple's future plans for its M1 silicon include dumping Intel Macs entirely and pushing the hardware to the high-end Mac Pro, culminating in a 32-core M1 Mac Pro sometime in 2022.
