Apple dropping support is much more devastating than for Android phones. I can't even install Google Drive on my old iPhone 5 because the apps no longer support it. So it doesn't even work as a basic connected shop phone for me.

With Android, you have a pathway to recycle useful tech. My 6 year old Xperia Z2 Tablet now has Android 10 and is faster than ever. Easily usable as a E-manual reader and the aforementioned Google Drive.

Apple continues to lead the way with its excellent software support for older smartphones, unlike many Android OEMs. Ultimately, even Apple has a point where it drops iPhones from future iOS releases, and it seems like the iPhone 6s series will be on the chopping block as of iOS 15. The same will probably apply for the original iPhone SE, too.
