Yep, in Europe the A1/A2 were a hit because it was decent HW, decent price and no MIUI.
Xiaomi decided to kill it, to try to get more people into the MIUI ecosystem.

It's not "thanks to MIUI"... it's "in spite of MIUI".

Lol, MIUI is THE reason people don't want to buy Xiaomi's phones!
If they got rid of MIUI their sales would sky rocket!

Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, reportedly estimated that his OEM's global operations represented 50% or more of its total revenue at this stage. Speaking at an innovation conference in China, the executive attributed this international success to MIUI. This Android skin started out as a custom ROM, but now exists as multilingual official software found on millions of devices worldwide.
