I'm going to miss that type-c from my gtx 2080ti, it had the highest transfer speed out of any of my USB ports and as another commenter mentioned, it's fast charge capable!
I wonder if people would be willing to pay a bit more for a nice RTX 30 series card from their favorite manufacturer with a top quality type-c port bundled with the card?
Chances are, the RTX 3090 won't be maxing out the entire pcie4 16x slot bandwidth and they can still include a high speed type-c port without impacting the performance of the GPU...

VR will soon be wireless, anyway. Don't worry!

I'm really was hoping that virtual link would take off. Sucks valve couldn't get it working well enough for the Index. That being said I'm more bummed about not having a fast charge/display port 1.4 capable usb c port. I've never really needed the display port connectivity but virtual link was the only fast charge capable usb c port on my PC.

meh, it'll come back in some form. wait until VR is bigger.
maybe wireless connections will be strong enough to render a dedicated port obsolete

The VirtuaLink connector has been killed off only two years after its announcement. NVIDIA introduced the VR connector with the GeForce RTX 20 series, but it is absent from the company's new RTX 30 Ampere cards. AMD, meanwhile, never released a card with a VirtualLink connector, despite being part of the VirtuaLink Consortium.
